How to Lose Weight in a Week - Reshape Your Metabolism and Burn Fat Uncontrollably

I'm going to show you how to lose weight in a week while you reshape your metabolism and burn fat uncontrollably. Your body will have no choice but to simply discard the extra pounds of fat that it's been holding on to for "an emergency".

A new YOU is about to take shape.

How to Lose Weight in a Week

1. First things first, you probably have 5 or more pounds of water weight you need to get rid of. For that, you'll need to drink a lot of water.

Here's what's up with water weight. Your body clings to it for emergencies. Your body still has the mentality that it's still 1,000 or more years ago when water was scarce. Back then, the added water weight helped people to survive.

Today, it just makes people look fat and bloated.

Well, you need to TRICK your body into thinking there's plenty of water so that it's pointless to carry the extra water weight. The easiest way to do that is to drink A LOT OF WATER.

Once you do, you're body will say to itself "Ok, I guess I don't need this added water for an emergency... I'll just release it now". So this water gets eliminated out of your body. And it goes rather fast too.

So if you were to drink a gallon of water each day, you can quite possibly lose 5 pounds of water weight in 3-4 days.

A bonus to this is that drinking a lot of water speeds up your metabolism to burn off even more calories.

Listen, I know this "drink a lot of water" information isn't too exciting, but it does work. So do it.

2. Your body has at least 5-10 pounds of putrified wastes and fecal matter clogging it up.

Actually, if you're 25 or more pounds overweight, you probably have even more than that. I read something about the autopsies on John Wayne and Elvis... they both had OVER 20 POUNDS of crusted up wastes and fecal matter in their body.

Think about that!
I don't mean to gross you out or anything, but it should be clear to you that you don't want undigested wastes in your body. So how do you solve this?

Simple... you get a lot of fiber in your diet... at least 40 grams.
For this, I recommend black beans, apples, and bananas.

Eat 1 can of black beans a day... that gets you 25 grams of fiber. Also, eat 3 bananas and or apples a day. That'll get you about 15 grams.

This fiber will help push out those wastes. It may take some time since those wastes are wedged in there pretty good (in most cases) from years of dietary abuse from you. Just be consistent with getting the 40 or more grams of fiber a day and slowly but surely that stuff will get loosened up and swept out of your body.
That's a simple way on how to lose weight in a week and reshape your metabolism without doing anything crazy!

Listen, if you're SICK and TIRED of getting the same old boring weight loss advice... you know, like "Eat more fruits and vegetables, drink 8 glasses of water, jog, and blah blah blah", then...

How To Lose Stomach Fat After Pregnancy

Most women experience difficulty in losing stomach fat after pregnancy. This is often the last place you will lose your post baby excess fat. A small percentage of lucky women will drop the baby fat within a few weeks with little to no effort, but this is rare. The rest of us need to work hard to get our bodies in the shape it was in before bub came along.
The first this you must understand is that losing stomach fat is no different from losing fat from anywhere else in your body. The same principles and rules apply. The second vital thing to remember is that losing fast after having a baby is no different form losing fat at any other time in your life, again the same principles and rules apply.
So what are these principles and rules? The first rule is that you must consume fewer calories than you eat. Sounds simple enough but it is quite difficult, especially at this time in your life. This constitutes eating fewer calories, and exercising to burn off more calories. The easier the two is to eat fewer calories, and this should be your first move.
When your baby grows up a little, and you can manage a babysitter, even just for a few hours a week, its time to start exercising. The best form of exercise for fat loss is cardiovascular, or aerobic exercise. This is defined as moderate intensity, long duration exercise. Examples include walking, jogging and swimming. Research has proven that for effective weight loss you need to exercise for a minimum of three days a week, for at least 30 minutes at each session.
There is no need to do hundreds of sit-ups every day, this wont help get rid of the fat. You shouldn't be doing sit-ups for the first 6 weeks minimum anyway if you have had a c-sect. Situps are resistance exercises, they will help you build muscle, not lose fat. Your muscles are still there, they are just covered with a layer of fat. When the fat is gone then you can work on toning and definition, but initially you will be wasting your time doing sit-ups.
The last thing to remember is set goals. This will help you stay on track when times get tough. Make small short-term goals such as "I want to lose 5 pounds this week", as well as larger long-term goals, such as "I want to lose 20 pounds this month". When you have your goals work you hardest to reach them! When you reach the first few you will be even more motivated to continue, and the cycle will continue.

Weight Loss Surgery Options - What Is Best for You?

Many people opt for weight loss surgery options because of various testimonials they have seen and others do so because it was recommended that they lose weight quickly by their doctor. Either way, these surgeries do work for obesity, but it requires after care and there are benefits and risks to each.
One of the popular weight loss surgery options is the adjustable gastric banding, better known as the lap band. It is one of the surgical procedures that has the least amount of invasion. The device used is a band that is inflatable and squeezes the stomach into two separate sections, but they remain connected. The benefit of this surgery is the band can be adjusted as needed without any more invasive surgery, it can be adjusted right in the doctor's office.
The lap band is also completely reversible. The band can be removed if so desired - no incisions or cutting is ever made to the stomach itself. The downside to the lap band is that the weight loss is not as extreme as other forms of surgical options. Therefore, it can take much longer to reach one's weight goal.
The sleeve gastrectomy is one of the fairly new weight loss surgery options. The surgery is done laparoscopically and up to 75 percent of the stomach is removed. The remainder of the stomach is a thin sleeve about the size of a banana which measures from about 1 to 5 ounces. The best two things about this procedure is it is less invasive than traditional gastric bypass, which is helpful if someone is very obese. And malabsorption is usually not an issue because the food still passes through the stomach and small intestine for digestion and absorption. Risks include infection, blood clots, and there is a possibility of the sleeve leaking. This procedure is also irreversible since a large portion of the stomach is completely removed.
The gastric bypass is still the most common of weight loss surgery options. During this procedure the stomach is surgically divided into two parts, the upper is sealed from the lower and then the lower part of the stomach is connected to the lower portion of the small intestines. The benefits of this procedure is weight loss is very fast. Because the weight loss is quick, obesity related illness decreases rapidly. Risks include the body's inability to absorb nutrients since the upper part of the stomach and the upper portion of the small intestine are bypassed, and the other risk is that the food consumed may make its way by "dumping" much too quickly into the intestines and not having a chance to digest. Diet is extremely important with the bypass surgery.

Running for Weight Loss - The Runners Diet for Weight Loss Without Losing Performance

Starting a running program is the best approach for losing those pounds and keeping them off for good. Running sheds more weight than other training programs. Not only that, it boosts metabolism, prevents heart-related problems, lessens stress and improves fitness and over all heath status.

Nevertheless, running alone will not help you stay fit for life. You need to back up your weight loss efforts with the proper diet; otherwise, expect an endless spiral of weight gain and further setback with your fitness resolution.

As a result, here are a few practical diet tips to get up and running for weight loss.

Eat for Performance and Weight Loss

The inner workings of weight loss are no secret. To lose weight, you need to boost activity (calorie burn), and decrease calorie intake. But this is no reason to sacrifice performance for weight loss. In fact, doing so will spell havoc on your weight loss efforts and over-all health levels.

To make sure you're eating for performance, while losing the weight, do the following:

- Use a food diary to pinpoint problem areas in your eating habits. Identifying and eliminating secret calories loader such unhealthy snacking or excess alcohol intake is key for long term weight loss-whether you're exercising or not.

- Eat around your workouts. To maximize fuel utilization and fat loss, you need to eat something at 1.5 to 2 hours prior the run, and immediately replenish your tanks afterwards. This helps you keep performance soaring while speeding up recovery.

- Eat regular meals. To keep your energy levels running high, establish a regular eating schedule - skipping meals can leave you drained, dizzy and more likely to overeat on your next meal. Aim for at least five small meals, 4-5 hours apart.

- Go Complex. Complex carbs are runners' best friend. They are the main source of energy during the run. Just make sure to opt for carbs with lower Glycemic rankings as they're better for weight loss and don't risk boosting blood sugar levels - key for regulating hunger.

- Eat protein. Not only protein will help recover faster and build muscle mass, it can also help you suppress appetite and keep hunger pangs at bay.

- Run from hunger. According to study published in the Journal of Sports Medicine, runners how had finished a long run at 50-70 of their maximum cardio capacity reported lower levels of hunger. This is believed to be the result of lower levels of Ghrelin - the hormone responsible for hunger.

Conclusion
Here you have! Now you hold the keys to starting a weight loss running program. Only you need to do is to start taking action. I'm not a big advocate for overnight change; aiming for incremental progress is a better approach. Speed of implementation - even on a small scale - is where the rubber meets the road.

Quick Fat Loss Program

There are many weight loss and diet programs. Most of the programs work for a month only, and you gain your weight back in the next month. If you like to know an effective diet program for a quick and more permanent fat loss for your body, please read the following:

Low Fat Foods

Low fat foods have been popular for many years. However, these foods are often not low in calories. Many people fill up with fat free or reduced fat cookies and desserts. When eating less fat, they may consume more processed sugars and carbohydrates, which are high in calories and can be converted into fat stored in the body. Accordingly, the overweight population is still increasing in spite of a huge consumption of low fat foods. This indicates that a low fat diet program is not really the answer to losing weight.

Low Calorie Diets

Many people think that a fast way to lose weight is to reduce calories eaten each day. Most of their weight lost during a low calorie diet is only water weight and not fat loss. Once they stop dieting and resume eating normally, they will probably regain their weight.

Low Carb Plans

Our body needs carbs for energy. Without enough carbs, we will feel weak and tired all day long. Most low carb plans have a strict restriction on taking carbs for the first 2 weeks. Since a low level of carbs is very difficult for us to tolerate, these plans only lead to a short-term weight loss.

Effective Diet Program for Quick Fat Loss

1. There is a new diet program that focuses on faster weight loss (9 pounds in 11 days) without hunger. It is not a low carb or low fat diet. It shows you a way of dieting which is different from what you have seen or experienced. The technique used in this program is called Calorie Shifting. Simply speaking, you will be given different types of calories each day. In this way, you confuse your metabolism, and force it to start burning fat quicker.

2. It is an Internet based diet program that generates an 11-day diet menu based on your favorite food selections in its Diet Menu Generator. You can have 7 to 15 foods each from 2 food lists (Protein and Fruits/Vegetables) for your meals, and you are allowed to eat them until you are almost full. By doing so, you will have exact types of foods together and adequate calories/carbs for each meal. This will maximize your weight loss. The 11-day period is followed by a 3-day "vacation" from the diet before the next 11-day period of the diet begins.

3. It helps you lose up to 9 pounds in 11 days. After that, you can repeat the 11-day process by creating a new diet menu until you have reached your desired weight goal. By simply following its eating plan generated by the Diet Menu Generator and 10 rules covered on the Diet Handbook, you will not feel that you are on diet, and you will lose weight on a more permanent basis.

As part of a successful diet program, you need to exercise regularly (walking, riding a bicycle, swimming, etc.) to lose weight healthily and effectively. In my opinion, quick fat loss is highly achievable as long as you take action immediately. Do Weight Loss Supplements Work?

Most weight loss supplements help you to lose weight by suppressing the appetite and by making frequent trips to the washroom!

Consequently many weight loss products contain these ingredients:
  • Appetite suppressants
  • Laxatives
  • Stimulants
  • Diuretics
It really is that simple.

Consult a Doctor First

It's a good idea to talk to a doctor before taking any weight loss tablets. A doctor can evaluate your health and advise you about which pills would be suitable for you and about exercise regimes. A doctor could also prescribe you diet pills. A lot of prescription diet pills are appetite suppressants and work by increasing certain chemicals in the brain which decrease your appetite.

One supplement is called phentermine which should be taken alongside a weight loss program that includes exercise and a nutritious diet. Other prescription diet pills work by stopping your body from absorbing large amounts of fat.

Fat Burners

These diet pills have become popular because they claim to trigger the parts of the body that need to eliminate fat. Fat burners contain herbal ingredients such as Ephedra, Pyruvate and Chitosan. It is claimed that these ingredients boost your energy, suppress your appetite and increase your metabolic rate.

It is thought that fat burners can help you to lose up to about 100 calories a day so they should not be used as the only means of losing weight but in conjunction with a good exercise program and a sensible diet.
Carb Blockers

Carb blockers produce chemical changes within the body, which prevent the body from absorbing carbohydrates. If there is too much carbohydrate in your diet your body can convert it into fat.

An ingredient of these supplements is often a substance called phaselous vulgaris, which is derived from the common bean. Tests have been undertaken about the efficacy of this substance but the results were inconclusive.

Natural Weight Loss Supplements

The safest natural weight loss supplements are the old stand-bys:
· Apple Cider Vinegar
· Kelp
· Vitamin B6
These supplements often counter deficiencies that inhibit weight loss. For example,
· Apple Cider Vinegar improves the digestion
· Kelp contains trace minerals, including iodine, which helps to regulate the thyroid gland.
· A lack of Vitamin B6 will cause water retention in most women.

Some formulae contain caffeine, white willow and trace minerals. Caffeine stimulates the release of adrenalin, which dumps fatty acids into the bloodstream, which is why many long distance runners drink a cup of coffee before a race.

The white willow active chemical is aspirin, which acts as an anti-flammatory and reduces blood pressure that often occurs from too many stimulants.

Minerals such as chromium picolinate are in some weight loss formulae and seem to work for some people but should accompany a good exercise program.

There is a lot of hype about weight loss supplements. Many of them are a waste of money whilst some do work, so it is important to do some research first as you could save yourself a lot of money.

Understanding Your Weight Loss With a Food Diary

Now that I fully understand what it takes to eat healthy and maintain a healthy weight, I realize how important it is to have a food journal. I've learned they are one of the most important tools someone could use to lose weight. You may be asking what a food journal is. I'm not referring to one of those diaries that we all had as kids writing down everything from our childhood crushes to the teachers we hated. I'm talking about a book where you write down your diet goals, progress, setbacks and triumphs.
Three years ago, in the beginning of my weight loss process, I hired a personal trainer. I was under the assumption that he'd do all the hard work and magically make me skinny. After three weeks of meeting him in the gym 3-5 times a week, I stepped on the scale to find I hadn't lost a single pound! I got really frustrated and the next day I went back to the gym with the intentions of firing him. He made a deal with me. He said that if I do this homework for a week and still no progress, I can get a new trainer. Deal. I had to write down everything I put in my mouth. Being the good student that I am (and wanting to prove him wrong) I did it. I was also forced by my husband, who was making sure I wasn't cheating or lying on my little project.
After the first 7 days, I gave him my diet journal. I was so proud of myself that I completed it, until I saw how disappointed his face looked. He pointed out the two cups of coffee each morning, a couple of diet cokes every day, finishing off my daughter's bag of chips, the gummy bears from the movie theater, and the four glasses of wine last Friday. He explained that's the reason I hadn't lost any weight.
Now-a-days, I explain the importance of a food journal to all of my own clients. I truly believe it helps people make smart choices when they eat. I always point out that they can do ten hours at the gym all they want, but if they don't watch their diet, they will not succeed.
A food journal is the most important tool in the beginning of a new lifestyle. You can find free diet journals online or buy one in the library. It's also fun to make one by getting a notebook and decorating it with all of your goals. In it, you want to write down everything from breakfast to dinner and include the times that you eat each meal and how you feel throughout the day. Don't forget to include your happy hours or parties. You have to see the flaws in your diet too.
Also include your workouts. Write down when you go to the gym and which exercises you did. Now you can keep track of which muscle groups you need to work and which you need to rest. If you still have questions about why those pants don't fit, take a look at your food journal and you'll have most of the answers right in front of you.
It's helped so much with my own weight loss results. I've surpassed most of my fitness goals and continuing to reach for more. And let me tell you, I still write everything I eat and every exercise I do down in my diet journal. The trick is to be honest with yourself. If you don't want to admit to the food diary you ate a brownie, you're only fooling yourself. I highly recommend a food journal in your path to a healthy lifestyle. It will make your learning, planning and achieving much easier.

Banana Diet Weight Loss - 3 Tips and 2 Dangers

Have you heard about the banana diet? It's the easiest ever weight loss diet, and it really works. Millions of people throughout the world are using the banana diet successfully. Although the banana diet is very simple, there are a couple of dangers. Let's look at three tips for using this successfully and also at two dangers.
What Is the Banana Diet?

Here is the banana diet in a nutshell. Eat raw bananas for breakfast and drink room temperature water. That's the entire diet. Simple, isn't it?
Now let's look at THREE TIPS for using the banana diet successfully.
1. Eat Your Bananas for Breakfast
Although the banana diet is very simple, there is one unbreakable rule. You must eat raw bananas for breakfast, but nothing else for this meal -- don't be tempted to eat something else for breakfast, and then eat bananas later in the day. The breakfast bananas kick start your metabolism, and give you energy.
2. Eat Only Raw Bananas for Breakfast
You can eat as many bananas as you wish. However, don't tinker with them. Eat your bananas, and drink room temperature water.
3. Drink Water With Your Bananas
Sip room temperature water as you eat your bananas. You should also drink water right throughout the day. There is no set number of glasses of water you need to drink with the banana diet, however it is good practice to drink at least a couple of glasses of water during the morning, during the afternoon, and in the evening too.
Now let's look at TWO dangers.
1. Forget "Dieting"
If you've been on many diets you may want to over-complicate the banana diet. This is a mistake. With the banana diet the only meal you need to pay attention to is breakfast. You can eat whatever you wish as snacks during the day or for your other meals. However you shouldn't eat after 8 PM and you should be in bed by midnight. Other than that you can eat whatever you like, and you don't need to exercise unless you want to.
2. Throw Away Your Scales
Many dieters are fixated on the scales. Paying too much attention to the scales is a real danger with the banana diet. Throw away your scales. You'll know that the diet is working, because your clothes will feel looser. You will also have much more energy. You don't need to know exactly how much you weigh. If you want to know how much you weigh, get weighed when you visit the doctor. That's the only time you need to pay attention to the scales.
Enjoy the banana diet, and enjoy your weight loss.

Weight Loss Benefits of Aloe Vera Juice

I'm no stranger to the sun. Growing up, I was outside playing all day every day. Although my skin was used to the sun's harsh rays, I often ended up sun burnt. The sting of the burn and the itch of the skin was always an unpleasant feeling, but my grandmother always soothed it with Aloe Vera.
The sap from Aloe Vera acts like a pain reliever and it reduces inflammation. So I've always known that Aloe Vera leaves had its benefits. But drinking it? That's news to me.
I recently ordered a protein shake from an organic health food store and the lady asked if I wanted Aloe Vera juice in it. The confused look on my face lead her to explain the question deeper.
She educated me on the benefits of Aloe Vera juice. I learned that, just like in my childhood, the ingredients in the juice serve as an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever. It tremendously helps your joints and their flexibility.
The benefits of drinking this juice also include that it is filled with mucopolysaccharide, which are the amino sugars needed for producing more body cells.
Supports a Healthy Immune System
I was also informed that drinking Aloe Vera juice improves your immune system. And with the change of the seasons coming up, who wouldn't want to strengthen their immune system? Furthermore, anyone who has chronic immune disorders will love this juice because it helps stimulate your white blood cells, which fend off viruses.
Helps Aide Weight Loss
And last but certainly not least, this surprising juice helps weight loss! How is a drink beneficial to your weight loss, you ask? Well let me tell you. Aloe Vera juice is a natural diuretic. It helps relieve people with constipation, yet slows the process of diarrhea down. Two for one!
I was so happy that a health food expert informed me about the benefits of this juice because I probably wouldn't have even thought to try it. I suppose the Aloe Vera plant isn't only good for sunburns.
This juice tends to have a strong tart taste. If you can't handle the straight shot, mix it into your shakes and fruit juices.
I've realized that I love the benefits of this juice and add it to my daily diet every chance I get. The suggested serving size of this juice is 2-8 ounces per day, which you could spread out to a couple ounces with each meal. And remember that organic is always recommended.

Give Your Body a Boost With Supplements

As an active woman, you need to have plenty of fuel to stay energized through a busy day and workouts. Yes, eating a well-balanced diet certainly helps, but there are ways to accelerate fat loss and rev up a metabolism.
The trick of the trade is supplements. I know what you're thinking, "Supplements are only for men," wrong. Sure, certain supplements are known for helping men increase muscle mass, and a lot of it. But just like there are muscle building supplements, there are also fat burning supplements out there as well.
Supplements may or may not be on your radar, and that's fine. If taking a vitamin or mineral to enhance fat burning all while helping recovery time isn't for you, that's your decision. There's no pressure here to try any of these supplements or products, but if you are interested in taking your health and fitness to the next level, I'd listen up.
Consider this your information center for supplements and how they can benefit women. I personally take all of these supplements and have seen amazing results (I wouldn't write about them if I didn't).
Anyway, let's get down to business and figure out which of the following, maybe all of them, are right for you and your fitness goals.
If You're Wanting to Lose Fat - Then fish oil is for you. Fish oil has two essential omega-3 fatty acids that every woman needs on a daily basis. I'm sure you think I'm crazy for recommending "fatty" acids, but hear me out on this one.
Not only does fish oil reduce inflammation, enhance muscle and joint recovery (from workouts), reduce risk of heart disease and other diseases and cancers, but it also has a chemical that turns off fat storing cells and turns on fat burning cells! I knew I'd get your attention with that last one.
If You're Wanting to Build Lean Muscle - I wanted to stress the word lean in there for you so there's no confusion. You will not get big and bulky. As a matter of fact, it's kind of the opposite. With whey protein, you will develop lean, sexy muscles. Instead of muscles popping out of your skin like body builders, you'll start to see the definition of your muscles in the places you want to see them, such as your abs, triceps, and even quads. Oh, and you'll build muscle where your fat used to be, say bye-bye arm giggle.
If You're Wanting to Increase Your Energy - Look no further than green tea extract. In it, there is a chemical called, sound it out with me, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). When you feel energetic, it's because endorphins are released into your body. Normally, our body naturally fights off these endorphins, along with other adrenaline causing chemicals. EGCG prevents our bodies from fighting off the adrenaline. So simply put, green tea extract allows our bodies to thrive on the natural occurrence of adrenaline. (FYI - To get the equivalent of the supplement, sip on five cups of green tea a day).
Like I said before, if you're not comfortable taking any supplements, then don't. But if you do think it's for you, be sure to consult your doctor to be sure you will benefit from these supplements and come to terms together on which would be the best for you.
Supplements can give you that extra boost in the gym to add lean muscle or speed up your metabolism in order to burn the maximum amount of calories. Whichever your goal is, you're sure to benefit from one, or all, of the supplements above.

If you've kept up with the latest news on nutrition, you've no doubt heard about the benefits of fish oil and omega-3 fatty acids. But wait - you've also heard it's a good idea to reduce your fat intake. So why should you supplement your diet with omega-3 fatty acids?
The answer is that not all fats are the same. In fact there are several types, usually grouped in three broad categories: trans fat, saturated fat and unsaturated fat.
Foods containing trans fat (cookies, cake and french fries, to name a few) not only increase LDL, or "bad" cholesterol but also lower HDL "good" cholesterol. These foods should be eaten in moderation. So should foods with saturated fat, such as butter, pizza, ice cream and red meat, which also increase bad cholesterol levels.
Foods that raise good cholesterol numbers include olive oil, vegetables, nuts and, most important, cold-water seafood, especially salmon. These all contain unsaturated fat, mostly of the polyunsaturated variety.
Fish oil - composed of two polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids, DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) - can provide several health advantages, and not just for adults in general. It can be particularly beneficial for women who are pregnant or nursing, for children and for adults with heart problems or exhibiting signs of Alzheimer's disease.
Studies have shown the benefits of fish oil taken during pregnancy on both the expectant mother and the developing child. DHA turns out to be a major building block in the fetal development of the brain and eyes, while EPA helps regulate the length of gestation.
During the growth and development that occur subsequently in infancy and childhood, fish oil can be crucial for proper eye and nerve development. A study involving five-year-olds indicated a definite connection between mothers who took omega-3 supplements while breastfeeding and a higher level of concentration skills in their children.
Perhaps even more striking is the role fish oil may play in reducing heart attacks, even among individuals who have already suffered one. An Italian study of more than 11,000 men who had survived coronaries found that adding omega-3s to their diet significantly decreased not only their overall risk of nonfatal heart attack and stroke but the rate of death as well.
The shrinking and disappearance of brain cells due to Alzheimer's disease is also believed by some researchers to be offset by a diet high in omega-3s. Though generally associated with the elderly, symptoms of Alzheimer's can begin decades earlier. Our brain, reaching full size when we are age 20, begins gradually shrinking soon afterward and on average decreases by 11 percent by age 45. Cutting-edge Alzheimer's studies suggest that a fish-oil-rich diet may slow if not halt this shrinkage.
And for those of us who already enjoy good health, fish oil offers another benefit. The EPA it contains helps the skin retain a smooth, youthful-looking quality with fewer wrinkles and fewer outbreaks of acne.

List Of Low Cholesterol Foods

People who are over 25 years of age should pay more attention to their cholesterol levels. This is because as the body ages, its ability to fight off bad cholesterol decreases. Experts say that in order to avoid having too much bad cholesterol in the body, people should always have a ready list of low cholesterol foods and create a balance diet menu out of it.
The following is a list of low cholesterol foods that can be mix and match to create a low cholesterol diet:
1. LEAN MEATS. Lean red meats or lean chicken/turkey meats and fish should always be included in the list of low cholesterol menu because these are rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, and micronutrients that are excellent for a person's metabolism as well as in fighting off bad cholesterol.
2. VEGETABLES. This food group is considered as the healthiest among other groups in the food pyramid primarily because they are low in calorie-content. Aside from that, these are also high in dietary fiber and dietary nutrients that aids not only regulated metabolism but also balances cholesterol levels. Vegetables are also perfect low cholesterol foods because these are excellent sources of minerals and vitamins such as vitamins C, E and K, vitamin B-complex, and other micronutrients that reduce vitamin deficiency. Aside from lowering high cholesterol levels, other benefits of eating vegetables also include the reduction of heart diseases and cancer as well as high blood pressure.
3. GRAINS. Because these are in high-energy content and dietary fiber content, grains are effective foods to lower cholesterol level. Whole grains are also known as effective in controlling weight. Aside from whole grains, breads, beans, potatoes, pasta, and cereals can also help lower cholesterol levels.
4. NUTS AND SEEDS. Since these contain large amounts of vitamins and minerals, nuts and seeds are included among the list of low cholesterol foods. These foods also are also high in dietary fiber that is excellent for great metabolism and low in calorie-content that is effective for weight management.
5. FRUITS. Just like vegetables, fruits are also among the top food groups that lower cholesterol because they are very low in calorie content. These also contain large amounts of significant vitamins and nutrients that help prevent of vitamin deficiency as well as other illnesses.

Lose Weight Safely: 6 Foods That Help You Drop Pounds

Losing weight safely and naturally is a process. Unfortunately, it can be a long process, but taking the time to make small changes in your lifestyle and diet can make the process easier. Those small efforts will eventually add up to a large effort that will yield real results, and these 6 foods will help you get there in a natural, safe and tasty way.
Blueberries
Blueberries and other dark colored fruit tend to be higher in fiber than other fruits and more packed full of nutrients. In just one serving, blueberries have about a quarter of your daily value of Vitamin C and 4 grams of fiber to keep you full longer. They're also a good natural sweetener to add to your cereal or Greek yogurt to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Eggs
This delicious breakfast staple is loaded with valuable nutrients that will keep hunger pangs away for hours. The protein found in eggs is considered one of the highest quality protein sources you can eat, which is great for rejuvenating your muscles after a hard workout. Eggs are also a good source of Vitamin B12 and iron.
Eggs are a little high in fat and quite high in cholesterol, though a recent study performed at the University of Connecticut showed that eggs actually helped to raise HDL (good) cholesterol levels in participants while LDL (bad) cholesterol levels remained the same. Their explanation: Lecithin, which is found in egg yolks, has been shown to raise HDL levels. If you're still worried about the cholesterol or fat, you can always opt for egg whites.
Nuts
Yes, nuts are high in calories, but they're packed full of healthy fats, fiber, protein, and vitamins that make them a great substitute if you're craving something salty and crunchy. A study conducted at Purdue University found that people who snack on nuts daily actually eat fewer calories throughout the day. The study also showed that adding nuts to participants' diets increased their resting metabolism rate by 11%, meaning you'll burn more calories all day long! Eating nuts may also help lower your risk of heart disease. Your best bet is to go for a variety: pistachios are especially low in saturated fat, walnuts are a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, and almonds have a good dose of Vitamin E, but don't forget other great tasting nuts like peanuts and cashews!
Cinnamon
The U.S. Department of Agriculture found that cinnamon can actually help reduce insulin spikes, which will help your body better regulate your blood sugar levels and ward off hunger. Cinnamon has also been shown to be very beneficial for people with type 2 diabetes. Sprinkle some cinnamon over oatmeal or sneak it into some of your favorite spicy dishes.
Quinoa
If you haven't tried quinoa yet, you should get on it. Quinoa may be the health food of the future because it features a great blend of complete protein, fiber, and some healthy unsaturated fats. It's technically a seed but you can cook quinoa like rice. Use quinoa instead of a grain to help keep your blood sugar levels steady and keep you full all day long.
Broccoli
As with fruit, darker colored vegetables tend to be more nutritious, making broccoli an excellent choice. Broccoli is very high in fiber, Vitamin A and Vitamin C. I like to add cooked and flavored broccoli to quinoa dishes with lean meat, but any way you can get fresh broccoli will work wonders for your weight loss program.

Best Diet Pills for Safe Weight Loss

According to a recent study, more and more people are becoming obese or overweight every year. This is obviously because we tend to eat more and perform physical activities less. The bigger problem is that most of us are lazy and don't want anything that involves difficulty. Such is the case when it comes to weight loss. People want an easy solution like popping a pill. Here is what you should know when you're looking for diet supplements.

Safety: The Main Concern

The big problem is that most of the supplements on the market don't really work. Moreover, safety is such a big issue since we're talking about your health and well being. Make sure that you perform thorough research in finding out which ingredients are harmful to your health. If you're looking at a particular product for weight loss, check each ingredient carefully.

Xenical

Orlistat or Xenical is one of the most popular diet pills today. It essentially blocks about 30% of the fat you consume in a meal. Xenical is FDA-approved and it is clinically proven to help people lose weight. The problem with this diet pill is that it also lowers absorption of certain nutrients in the body. However, it is still one of the best diet pills for safe weight reduction.

Carbohydrate Blockers

If you know anything about weight loss then you're probably aware that carbohydrates can be detrimental to weight reduction. Excessive consumption of carbohydrates has been proven to result to weight gain. This is why diet pills that block carbohydrate absorption are useful for safe shedding of weight. Just make sure that the product you purchase is really effective since there are many useless carbohydrate blockers being sold today.

Natural Weight Loss Supplements

If you're looking for a supplement to help you with your weight loss then you should be considering natural supplements for reducing the weight. These diet pills can help boost your metabolism and/or control your appetite. Natural is the best alternative since it is safer and doesn't cause serious side effects that can negatively affect your health.

Fiber Supplements

Another category of diet pills that can help you achieve safe weight loss is fiber supplements. These supplements usually contain natural fiber sources like psyllium husks or African Mango Seed which can help you feel full sooner and for a longer time. This is particularly useful if you don't consume a high amount of fruits and vegetables. Some studies indicate that high fiber consumption can be very helpful in losing weight.

The Links Between Drinking Water and Weight Loss

Drinking water and weight loss have always been two things that MUST go together. You just can't lose weight if you drink too little water or if you get dehydrated by too much caffeine, alcohol or sweating! So drinking water and weight loss is a key combination.

But does water MAKE you lose weight?

Here's an amazing fact!

Drinking water is essential to weight loss.

If you plan on losing weight and keeping it off, water is most probably the most important element of your weight loss diet. That is an amazing fact, wouldn't you agree, given the amount of money people spend on diets, diet products and diet pills - water costs almost nothing!

I guess most of us take water for granted, but it's a pretty potent catalyst for long term weight control as well as for good health.

But how are drinking water and weight loss linked?

The better you understand the effect of drinking water and weight loss, I think the more you will start to take this on board in your daily habit and become more conscious of how the dehydrating effects of tea, coffee, cola or alcohol are sabotaging your best weight loss efforts!

Firstly, one remarkable truth is that the body cannot metabolise stored fat efficiently without enough water.

Secondly, if you are retaining water, it figures that it's going to show up as excess weight. Although it might seem odd, to get rid of excess water you actually must drink more water to restore the body's water balance.

Here's FIVE really great tips to maximise the effects of drinking water and weight loss.

Tip 1:
Water keeps your appetite suppressed AND helps your body work off stored fat.

Research have shown that reducing your water intake can cause fat deposits to increase while increasing water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.

Here's the science bit on drinking water and weight loss...

The kidneys cannot work very well with insufficient water. When they do not function to their full capacity and so some of the overload is dumped onto the liver. Since one of the liver's primary functions is to metabolise stored fat to give energy to the body, if the liver has to do some of the kidney's work, it cannot work on fat loss.

As a result, it breaks down far less fat than if it was working at its best. The consequence is that more fat remains stored in the body and weight loss grinds to a halt.

Oh my God! Not what you want, right?

So it's really all about drinking water and weight loss, but if you don't drink enough water, it can stop you losing weight and make fat loss like pushing a bit boulder up a steep hill.

Tip 2:

Drinking water is the best treatment for fluid retention.

When the body gets an inadequate amount of water, it responds as if its survival is being threatened and starts to hang on to every drop, storing it in all the little spaces between the cells. The result is swollen feet, hands, and legs. Diuretics offer only a temporary solution, because they force out stored water but you also lose many essential nutrients into the bargain.

Again, because the body sees this as a threat, it will actually replace the lost water first chance it gets. And then the fluid retention returns. The best way to overcome the problem of water retention is to give your body what it needs - a bountiful supply of water - so that stored water can be released.

If you continually suffer with water retention, you might want to look at your salt intake - excess salt may be to blame. Your body will tolerate salt only to a certain level. The more salt you eat, the more water your system retains to dilute it. But getting rid of too much salt is straightforward - just drink more water, so it forces the kidneys to flush out excess sodium.

Tip 3:

An overweight person needs more water than a thin one.

The larger you are, the higher your metabolic load. Tip 1 indicates that water is the key to fat metabolism. But water also helps keep up a good muscle tone, providing them the means to contract and by preventing dehydration. It also helps avoid that sagging skin that can happen after you've lost weight. Shrinking cells are buoyed by water which plumps the skin and leaves it clear, healthy and radiant.

Tip 4:

Water helps detoxify the body.

During weight loss, the body has quite a stash of waste to get rid of, including all that fat it has broken down. Again, getting enough water helps flush out the waste and toxins. This can actually also start help with any problems you may have had with constipation. When the body gets too little water, it pulls off what it needs from other sources in the body and guess what? The colon is a major drain on water. So if you're not getting enough water, you're destined to get more than a little constipated! Drinking enough water will quickly get you back to a normal bowel function. BLISS!

How much water is enough?

On the average, a person should drink eight (8 oz.) glasses every day - that's around 1.5 to 2 litres. However, if you are overweight, you'll need to add one additional glass for every 25 lbs of excess weight. Obviously, if you are exercising and sweating or if the weather is really hot, you should increase the amount that you drink as well.

There's some debate as to whether these 8 glasses should be pure water. My view is that it doesn't matter if you add a little cordial or fruit juice to give it some flavour. In fact I'd even count tea and coffee as long as it's decaffeinated (although it's not ideal). And certainly natural herbal beverages or infusions would count towards your water intake. Of course, there's also water in some of the foods you eat, so that's just a bonus!!

As a final word on drinking water and weight loss, water should preferably be cold - it is absorbed more quickly into the system than warm water. There's also some evidence that drinking cold water can actually burn calories - the so-called 'thermojetic' effect or "negative calories".

What does reaching a 'breakthrough point' mean?

When your body gets the water it needs to function properly, your fluids are perfectly balanced and you will have reached what is called the "breakthrough point".
  • Endocrine gland function improves.
  • Fluid retention is alleviated as stored water is lost.
  • More fat is utilised because the liver is free to metabolise stored fat.
  • Natural thirst returns.
  • There is a loss of hunger almost overnight.
SO KEEP TANKING UP ON WATER... and be conscious of the very strong link between DRINKING WATER AND WEIGHT LOSS.

To utilize water most efficiently during weight loss, follow this schedule:

· Morning: 750ml consumed over a 30-minute period
· Noon: 750 ml consumed over a 30-minute period.
· Evening: 750 ml consumed between 5-8 pm.

If you stop drinking enough water, your body fluids will be thrown out of balance again and you may experience fluid retention, unexplained weight gain and loss of thirst.

To remedy this situation, you have to go back and force another breakthrough.

So now if you ask about the relationship between drinking water and weight loss, you have a great understanding. Just live by the tips here, and water will be your best friend. To your success!

Apple Diet - It Works For Weight Loss, But Beware of 1 Version Of This Diet

Ever hear of the apple diet? It's a popular weight loss diet that has numerous versions and spin-offs. A lot of these versions are healthy and work for weight loss, however 1 version you must absolutely avoid.
First, why the apple diet works...

A big reason on why the apple diet works has to do with the high water content and high amount of fiber in each apple. The high water content allows you to "eat water" basically. The foods you mostly "eat water" with are generally low in calories, but very filling. For example, a 300-calorie candy bar won't fill you up, but 300-calories worth of apples will.

Another reason why the apple diet works is because each apple has 5 grams of fiber in it. It has both soluble and insoluble fiber. Having a high fiber intake is a big part of successful long term weight loss programs.
The average American only gets about 12 grams of fiber each day. It's recommended that you get 25 grams of fiber each day. I, however, advocate getting 35-50 grams of fiber each day for easy long term weight loss.
There are 2 rules to the apple diet...

Rule #1: Eat 1 apple before each meal

This is the main rule. Very simple, huh?

Just eat 1 apple before each of 3 meals. Nothing more. I won't even tell you to stop eating your favorite foods. Obviously, if you eat a little bit more healthy, you'll increase the speed in which you lose weight... but I won't force you to eat healthier.

Rule #2: Don't forget rule #1

Seriously, there is just 1 rule to the apple diet. However I want to add that I've found that my clients who have tried the apple diet get better results simply by following rule #1 and eating healthy snacks.

That's all you need to change in your diet... eat an apple before each of 3 meals... and eat healthy snacks. You can continue to eat more unhealthy type of foods for your meals. Just don't eat unhealthy snacks!
So, if you want an easy weight loss plan that isn't complicated and doesn't require much thinking on your part, try the apple diet.

The Greatest Weight Loss Secret

What is the greatest weight loss secret? Is it lowering your food intake? Is it increasing your exercise? Is it a new magic pill or diet drink?

There is a fellow down the hall from my office. For several months now he has been trying to convince everyone he sees that this new magic, all-natural pill has helped him lose 30 pounds in less than 2 months. He claimed he has lost over 90 pounds total. What he fails to say is that over 60 of that came from lap-band surgery. Then he gained some of the weight back and now uses these pills to help him go on a starvation-like diet.

Another friend of mine and his wife are telling everyone that together they lost a combined 105 pounds in 3 months. He lost 55 and she lost 45. They found a doctor that gave them some kind of injection and they lived on a 500 calorie a day diet... another form of starvation.

Of course you don't have to watch much TV or listen to the radio very long before an advertisement for some new and miraculous cure for obesity comes on. The irony is that none of those magic ingredients are nearly as powerful as one simple reality:

What is the greatest secret to weight loss? It is this simple... "if you can see it you can be it"
Do you remember the old story about putting fleas in a jar? The story goes that if you put a bunch of fleas in a glass jar and screw the lid on they will start trying to jump out. Now, fleas are supposed to be extraordinary jumpers and could normally jump right out of the jar were it not for the lid. After a day or so, you can remove the lid and the fleas will jump but only to the top of the jar and not beyond. That's because they have become conditioned to only jump so high and, I suppose, prevent themselves from being injured by hitting the lid (which has now been removed).

We do that exact same thing. Over the years we have created imaginary barriers that we perceive to be limits to our success. Unfortunately, many of these barriers were put in place before we were 6 years old. But the point is, they are imaginary... not real. But, just like the fleas, we perceive them to be real and thus they limit our ability to move past them.

So, what does this have to do with your losing weight? It's everything! One of the most neglected elements in weight loss is actually seeing yourself at your ideal weight. When you can paint a mental picture of yourself at your ideal weight, you will have essentially won the battle.

Why do people buy magic pills and potions and spend millions of dollars on gimmicks to lose weight? It's because these things promise to break the barriers that are keeping you from losing. And, they work, at least temporarily. However, when you can break your own barriers when you remove you own "lid". You will reach your ideal weight, without the aid of pills and potions and can you can maintain it forever! See it, be it.
How do you paint the picture and destroy your mental barriers?

I am going to share a technique used by Natalie Ledwell as part of her MindMovies.

  1. You sit down in a comfortable place. You close your eyes and begin to take deep, relaxing breaths.

  2. Get as relaxed as you possibly can. Your arms and legs feel warm and a bit heavy.

  3. With your eyes still closed begin mentally counting backwards from 10 to 1. As you count down, feel yourself relaxing deeper with every number.

  4. Now, picture yourself in a beautiful place. Maybe on a beach or in a meadow. Wherever you can feel nature. You feel safe and totally at ease. You notice your surrounds. What are you hearing? What do you smell? Is it warm? Is there a breeze gently blowing? Just savor the peace and beauty of this place.

  5. Now as you are in your safe and beautiful place, imagine 2 pictures appearing in front of you. One is very large and positioned directly in front of you. The other is much smaller and positioned in the upper left hand corner of your view.

  6. Stare at the larger picture. It is you at your current weight. As hard as you try, you can't lose weight. You try to eat less. You try to exercise. You try to do all the right things but you are still heavy and can't seem to do anything about it. You are a failure. You feel all alone and not even worthy to be slender. Feel this pain. Feel this heartbreak. Face this picture head on.

  7. Now, notice the smaller picture. It is up in the left hand corner and much smaller than the one in front of you. But it's different. It is a picture of you and you are at your perfect weight. You are happy. You feel younger than you have in years. Your friends are showering you with compliments. You are active, doing the exciting things you have always wanted to do. You look incredible.

  8. Now, in an instant, switch the pictures with a snap. The picture of you at your ideal weight is now in front of you and the "old you" is in the background.

  9. The old picture keeps trying to come back and dominate your view but every time it does, snap it back so that the "new you" remains in front of you. Keep snapping the "new you" picture to the foreground until it is all that you are conscious of.

  10. This is you. Feel yourself smiling as you feel so alive and happy. It's a beautiful picture.

  11. With this picture firmly planted in your minds eye, start wiggling your toes and fingers. Bring yourself back to consciousness, alive and feeling refreshed.
Try spending 10 minutes a day painting your own mental picture of yourself at your dream weight. I think you will be very impressed with the result.

Spirulina weight loss?

One of the best known and talked about benefits of spirulina is its natural ability to help with weight loss. It is worth taking note that spirulina does not burn fat directly but it helps the body in so many other ways. These are ways spirulina benefits weight loss.

Spirulina is a good source of proteins and it has more proteins that meat and soybeans. With a diet that is full of proteins, you are going to feel fuller for a long time. Foods that are low glycemic index are those that take your body a longer time to digest thus making you to stay away from snacks and treats with high sugar. This is exactly what spirulina does.

Spirulina contains a lot of essential vitamins and minerals that are needed for good health. It is also the first class source of essential omega three fatty acids which also boosts the functioning of the brain. As you continue to follow and maintain an exercise program and healthy diet, spirulina for weight loss is going to give your body a boost naturally.

Regardless of whether you want to lose weight or you simply want to give your body all the vitamins and nutrients that it needs, spirulina is going to get you on the fast track to better health.

Spirulina is low in calories. It supplies just 3.9 calories for every gram of protein in comparison to beef which supplies sixty five calories for every gram of protein. A standard five hundred milligram tablet of spirulina just has two calories. A regular consumption of spirulina is going to give you a good portion of your daily nutritional needs without there being any caloric consequences.
